John Peters

John joins us here at Machynys as Academy Manager & Head Teaching Professional with an outstanding reputation in Wales for his coaching skills. John initially started his career as a player representing Wales as an amateur and then turned professional playing on various tours around the world.

He then turned his attention to coaching, developing a style that is informative, adaptable, enjoyable and at the same time extremely successful. This has been recognised at both County and National level with his appointments as National Coach to the Welsh Junior Squads for South Wales and Head Coach to the Glamorgan County Junior Squads.

John's passion for coaching and desire to see every pupil he works with improve their game, makes him the perfect choice as Academy Manager & Head Teaching Professional at Machynys Peninsula Golf & Country Club.

"Successful coaches have the ability to communicate information in many different ways and styles. This is why I have studied and worked with some of the best Sports Psychologists in the world of golf. Improving my knowledge of how individuals interoperate, process and ultimately perform tasks, allows my teaching to appeal to a broader number of pupils."

Best Golf Tip
Spend more time on your short game! Most of the game is played less than a 100yds from the hole. Many of the tour professionals these days carry 3 to 4 wedges in their bags, this emphasises just how much importance they place on the short game.
